Lifeworlds of Children of Sex Workers in Budhwar Peth

Abstract


This article is based on primary research done with children of sex workers in Pune’s
Budhwar Peth. It attempts to locate the ‘lifeworlds’ of the children of sex workers. The
research utilised qualitative and participatory techniques to elicit information from the
children. It locates specific situations within which the children live in and their experi-
ences of growing up. Through the narratives of the children, the article tries to give a
thick description of their perceptions of their everyday and poses questions to the exist-
ing interventions.
