Domestic Violence and Women’s Health

Abstract

This article is based on a research study conducted on 240 women victims of domestic
violence in Kerala. While the study explored the manifestation, causative factors, inten-
sity of violence, psychological distress, the contributing socioeconomic factors and the
services provided by the socio-legal system to the victims of domestic violence, this
article focuses only on psychological distress experienced by the victims of domestic
violence and the socio-demographic factors impinging on the dynamic.
