women residing at M-East Ward, Mumbai. A total of 600 respondents were interviewed.
The study examines the support systems available for their care in Mumbai. Results
indicate social, health (physical and mental) and financial issues such as increased
dependency on others, reduced social ties and engagements, lack of spaces and
recreational centres for socialisation, poor health status, poor psychological status,
insufficient accessibility to health care services, financial vulnerability, limited knowledge
of different laws, facilities offered by Government and limited work of NGO's in the area
