Desertion: Experiences of Women Married to Non-resident Indian Men in Jalandhar, Punjab

Abstract

The issues faced by Punjabi women married to Non-resident Indians (NRI) are largely seen from the perspective of ‘desertion’. This study attempts to explore factors pivotal to the arrangement of these marriages at the individual, familial and societal level. It attempts to capture the complexity of the issues experienced by women in NRI marriages and their struggle to get justice in the face of exploitation.
