Factors Influencing Employee Engagement: An Exploratory Study
Abstract
Employee engagement as an emerging concept predicts employee performance, or-
ganisational commitment as well as the organisation’s financial performance (Bates,
2004). Harter and others (2002) reported that employee engagement is positively re-
lated to customer satisfaction, loyalty, profitability, and productivity. Although the term
employee engagement is becoming popular, it has its basis in practice rather than
in theory and empirical research (Robinson and others, 2004). There is apparently a
dearth of academic literature on employee engagement. This study is a modest attempt
towards filling the said gap.
